Why Choose Mount Sinai?

Mount Sinai Health System has a comprehensive pediatric developmental care program in New York City. We provide compassionate care to children with complex developmental-behavioral disorders such as autistic spectrum disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, and other disorders related to genetic, congenital, or metabolic abnormalities. Our team includes developmental-behavioral pediatricians, psychologists, child psychiatrists, social workers, and occupational therapists.

We take a compassionate, family-centered approach while offering the latest advances in evaluation and treatment options. We frequently provide consultations to other doctors and outside agencies such as schools. Our relationship with the local community is long standing. We participate in statewide and national efforts such as schools for special needs children.

Mount Sinai doctors collaborate with Fordham University, offering psychological testing  and reflecting our strong commitment to academic teaching and research.

We also operate several specialty programs: the EMPOWER program, which is hosted by the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute; the Neonatal Intensive Care graduates follow-up program; and a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric Program at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens.

Our research studies help us learn about the mechanism and characteristics of developmental-behavioral disorders. You and your family can participate in these studies, if you are interested. By participating, you can help us improve our understanding of diagnostic and therapeutic tools.

Our Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics began more than a century ago, shortly after we created the nation’s first free-standing pediatric department. From the very beginning, we have measured our successes through the ability to provide coordinated, collaborative care to young patients and their families.
