Mark S. Courey, MD
Chief of Laryngology, Director of the Grabscheid Voice and Swallowing Center of Mount Sinai

Mark S. Courey, MD, is the Division Chief of Laryngology, Director of the Grabscheid Voice and Swallowing Center of Mount Sinai, and Vice Chair of Quality for the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the Mount Sinai Health System. Dr. Courey is well-regarded nationally and internationally for his skills in the clinical management of patients with airway, voice, and swallowing disorders. Additionally, he uses a multidisciplinary (team) approach to patient care, which includes speech-language pathologists, vocal trainers, laryngologists, neurologists, radiation oncologists and voice scientists. Dr. Courey sees patients at both The Mount Sinai Hospital and at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. 

Daniel McCabe, DMA, CCC-SLP

Daniel McCabe has an extensive career in professional voice, teaching, and voice therapy. He has a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music, and has 15 CDs to his name, including one that won the Grand Prix du Disc, and one that was put up for a Grammy. He has been on the faculty at Oberlin Conservatory and the Music department at SUNY Buffalo, and studied with Jan DeGaetani and Richard Miller. After completing a three-year program of study in vocology at the University of Iowa Mr. McCabe specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of functional voice disorders. He brings a unique knowledge of the demands that professional voice users place on their voices. His published research includes studies on swallowing, neural plasticity, as well as voice disorders. His current research focuses on laryngeal hypersensitivity, and vocal fold elasticity.

Leanne Goldberg, MS, CCC-SLP
Speech and Language Pathologist

Leanne Goldberg, M.S., CCC-SLP is a clinical specialist in Speech and Language Pathology at The Mount Sinai Hospital. She received a BS from NYU and her MS degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Leanne completed her fellowship at Mount Sinai and has been working in our institution since 2005.

Leanne’s clinical expertise includes the evaluation and treatment of swallowing, voice and airway disorders. She is certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association and is trained in Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow (FEES), Lee Silverman Voice Treatment, and Laryngeal massage. In addition, Leanne is a member of the Mount Sinai cleft palate/craniofacial team, assisting in the development of the Day Rehabilitation Programs for Brain Injured Adults in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. She has also worked extensively with patients post stroke and traumatic brain injury and is proficient in Spanish.
