Palliative Care

Training and Education

An integral part of the mission of the Steven S. Elbaum Family Center for Caregiving is to provide training to health care professionals across the educational and professional trajectory from graduate and medical school up through full faculty membership. We are committed to training the next generation of caregiving scientists, clinicians, and advocates who will advance the science and practice of care for caregivers. The Elbaum Center recruits one postdoctoral fellow per year for a two-year fellowship, each of whom will receive research and clinical training. We also have opportunities for students from local doctoral programs in clinical psychology to receive research and clinical training with us, as well as educational opportunities for medical, nursing, and social work students. Additionally, we welcome national and international collaborations from students and researchers worldwide.

In addition to training provided to Elbaum Center faculty and students, we are committed to enhancing graduate medical education to include a more comprehensive focus on family caregivers. Stay tuned for updates in 2026 about these educational initiatives.
