Palliative Care

Doula Program

Hospitalized patients receiving palliative care can consult with a doula, a specially trained volunteer who provides support and companionship. Doulas can help you feel less isolated and can offer emotional comfort and practical assistance. Through the Mount Sinai Doula Program, organized by our Chaplain, Rabbi Edith Meyerson, volunteers are interviewed and undergo an intensive training program.

Doulas volunteer their time on a weekly basis and help us to provide comprehensive patient and family care.

If you are interested in requesting a doula, please contact the nurse who is caring for you.

To become a doula, contact Rabbi Edith M. Meyerson, DMin, BCC, at edith.meyerson@mssm.edu.
