About Schizophrenia Care at Mount Sinai
Schizophrenia and spectrum disorders are severe and disabling brain disorders that affect approximately one percent of the U.S population. In the Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai our experts provide the highest level of care for patients with these disorders through a range of interventions available through our inpatient and outpatient services. Our clinical care is enhanced by ongoing research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where investigators are working to unlock the mechanisms behind these disorders. Through this combination of clinical expertise and research innovation, we strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients and their families.
Schizophrenia Clinical Services
Our team of highly skilled psychiatrists and psychologists offers a range of schizophrenia services and treatments tailored to the needs of each patient. Our inpatient services include intensive individual and groups therapies; our outpatient care includes our Psychiatry Clinic as well as transitional day programs. These services offer treatments that include medication management, psychotherapy, and support care.
Mount Sinai investigators in programs within the Department of Psychiatry, the Division of Psychiatric Genomics and the Psychosis Research Program are conducting ongoing studies to identify the genetic origins and biological mechanisms behind schizophrenia and spectrum disorders. Such research could advance treatment options and improve the lives of patients and families struggling with these challenging conditions.
