Mid Face Lift

The facial laxity and sagging that develops as we age can have a profound effect on the “mid face”; the area of our cheeks below that sits immediately below our eyes. As we age we loose the volume and tissue that are instrumental to facial definition and “high cheek bones.” At Mount Sinai, our expert facial plastic surgeons employ various techniques to address the effect of aging on the mid-face, including Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Mid Face Lifting. The goal is to ensure a long lasting, natural-looking and rejuvenated appearance. Adjunctive procedures may be employed in addition to Neck Lift surgery in order to achieve an optimal outcome including face lifting, brow lifting, eye lift/blepharoplasty, and chin and cheek augmentation.

At Mount Sinai, mid face lift surgery is usually done on an outpatient basis at our private, Ambulatory Surgery Center. Mid face lifting can be performed under local anesthesia, general anesthesia or a combination of local anesthesia and sedation. Prior to surgery patients are given instructions regarding medications and how to prepare for their recovery. After surgery, patients are usually given a short course of antibiotics and mild pain medication as some mild discomfort may persist for the first few days. Patients should expect to return to work or social activities within one to two weeks after surgery. We do ask that patients avoid strenuous activities for two weeks after surgery.

While cost is always a concern, insurance generally does not cover surgery or treatment that is done purely for cosmetic reasons. We provide patients with expected costs prior to any intervention.
