We are committed to improving the health of the communities served by the Mount Sinai Health System through collaboration with faith based and community organizations. We recognize the importance of faith and religion in medical decision making and that faith based leaders can have a significant role in promoting the health of their congregations. Our monthly educational sessions with faith based leaders include topics that range from preventive care, illness detection and treatment, to access to care. Our chaplain Community Liaison understands the culture of a medical institution as well as the complex relationships between faith, spirituality, and health. We collaborate with faith based leaders in order to facilitate health promotion through lectures, dissemination of educational materials, medical screens, and assistance regarding access to care off-site in their places of worship.
