Mount Sinai Radiology utilizes state-of-the-art, ACR certified equipment including:
- Five high field (1.5 and 3.0 Tesla) MRI systems
- Five multislice advanced CT scanners
- Five quality ultrasound systems
- Four digitally compatible x-ray and fluoroscopic machines
- Two PET/CT scanners
- Three SPECT/CT scanners
- Digital Mammography unit
- Stereotatic breast biopsy unit
- Diagnostic X-ray units
This advanced equipment enables the performance of many new, highly sophisticated studies including MR and CT Angiography, Functional MRI, CT screen for lung cancer, colon cancer and cardio-vascular disease, oncologic and cardiac PET/CT and digital, sonographic and biopsy studies of the breast. Our top-of-the-line PACS system provides referring physicians with remote web access to CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Diagnostic x-ray studies. The Department of Radiology operates on a digital basis with immediate availability of all imaging studies.
State-of-the-Art Breast Imaging
The Dubin Breast Center is one of the first facilities in the United States to offer state of the art 3D Breast Imaging. In addition to digital 2D mammography, the 3D mammogram can be obtained allowing the radiologist an unequalled look at all the breast parenchyma. To obtain a 3D mammogram, 15 extremely low dose images of the breast are obtained as the mammogram machine rotates in an arc. These images are sent to a computer which processes them and allows the radiologist to view them as 1 mm thin sections. The advantages are that small cancers might be hidden by overlying tissue and will be more readily visible on a 3D mammogram and areas that might be questioned as abnormal can be shown to be normal overlying tissue.
Cutting-Edge MRI Technology
Our new high yield magnetic resonance image scanner allows your doctor to get high quality images of your injury without putting your entire body in a tube. The exams are more comfortable and allow you to be more relaxed. The ONI MSK Extreme system delivers optimal imaging of the hand, wrist, elbow, foot, ankle and knee.
