Clinical Neurosciences Center

At Mount Sinai’s Clinical Neurosciences Center, we diagnose and treat conditions of the brain, nerves, and spinal cord that can interfere with everyday life for adults and children. These conditions often worsen over time and may cause symptoms such as tremors, muscle weakness, pain, seizures, and paralysis. Our team uses advanced approaches in functional neurology and neurosurgery—including medications and surgical procedures—to help you manage symptoms and restore function. We have all the expertise you need in one place. Our experts are advancing how science understands and treats neurological and psychiatric disorders. We have been designated as a Center of Excellence by the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Conditions We Diagnose and Treat

At the Center, we help patients with three broad types of neurological disorders:

  • Epilepsy and seizures
  • Movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, essential tremors, tics, and Tourette syndrome
  • Certain major psychiatric disorders, including major depression disorder and severe obsessive-compulsive disorder, that have failed to respond to traditional medical treatments.

Team Approach

Our team approach is key. We bring together experts in neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, and neuroscience research in one place. Our specialists routinely consult on specific patients and overall approaches to determine the best possible diagnosis and treatment. We also offer additional services, such as nutrition, social work, and neuropsychiatric care. The Clinical Neurosciences Center houses experts from Mount Sinai’s specialty centers, including:

In addition, we work with experienced researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, enabling us to offer the very latest science-backed treatments. You may also be able to participate in clinical trials that are not yet generally available.
