Diagnosis and Testing
We use a variety of approaches to diagnose heart disease often starting with blood tests. We also use scanning and imaging techniques that allow us to see what is happening inside your body; these approaches include electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. In addition, we may do Holter monitoring, which uses a portable device that you wear for 24 to 72 hours to provide us with a continuous electrocardiogram.
Treatment
We treat cardiovascular conditions with a variety of medications and lifestyle changes. We also provide interventional cardiology treatments, which are state-of-the-art minimally invasive approaches. If you require cardiovascular surgery, we work closely with our cardiology colleagues at Mount Sinai Morningside.
