At Mount Sinai, our team includes physiatrists and physical and occupational therapists who specialize in orthopedic conditions. From your first day of rehab, we will work closely with you to determine the best plan of care for treating issues related to your bones and muscles (also known as the musculoskeletal system) to train and strengthen your body and get you back to an active lifestyle.
Our patients may begin the rehabilitation process for various reasons: to prepare for surgery, to improve muscle or bone function after surgery, as an option to avoid surgery, or simply to manage a musculoskeletal condition following injury.
We treat individuals with a wide variety of orthopedic injuries and conditions including (but not limited to):
- Back and neck pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Degenerative joint disease
- Foot and ankle pain
- Hip, wrist, elbow, pelvic, and other fractures
- Rotator cuff injuries
- Sports injuries
- Sprains, strains, and other injuries
- Total joint replacements
Our inpatient rehabilitation units are staffed by a team of professionals whose goal is to help you recover and transition back to your home environment as soon as possible. As the units are located within the acute hospital, there is immediate access to diagnostic and interventional services.
While on the unit, you will undergo a rehabilitation program that is coordinated by your rehab physician. Innovative and coordinated therapy programs are delivered by a highly trained and experienced group of professionals, who work together as an interdisciplinary team to develop, implement and coordinate every patient’s individualized program of care. To maximize functional recovery, each patient receives a minimum of three hours of therapy five days per week.
Our therapists also provide continuous education about risk factors and injury prevention throughout your rehabilitation.
Mount Sinai offers extensive outpatient services for individuals with orthopedic injuries and conditions. The rehabilitation team works together to design and implement an individualized plan of care to address your symptoms and help you return to your normal activities as soon as possible.
