Diabetes is a serious, chronic condition and severe complications are not uncommon.
When we develop your individualized diabetes treatment and management plan, we take into account the type of diabetes you have, your age, lifestyle, overall health and whether you have other chronic conditions. This plan helps you manage your disease and lower your risk of serious, and even life-threatening complications, including damage to your eyes (retinopathy), kidneys (nephropathy), nerves (neuropathy), and feet, as well as cardiovascular disease.
By monitoring your results carefully, we work to prevent future complications, control the progression of disease, and help you recover from poor diabetes control or related complications. In addition to providing exemplary care, we strive to empower you to control your own disease. We offer training in meal planning, physical activities, oral and injectable medications and, if needed, various forms of insulin therapy. If you or your family is feeling overwhelmed by the diabetes diagnosis, you can find support at our free diabetes classes.

All of our work as researchers, clinicians, and educators has but one goal: to make everyday life better for our patients – every single day of the year.
