Management Team

David Coun, MD
Medical Director
David Coun, MD is an American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) board certified internist with more than 20 years of experience as a primary care physician. He is the Medical Director of Mount Sinai Doctors-Business Health as well as Medical Director for Mount Sinai’s multispecialty practice at 55 East 34th Street. After his undergraduate degree at Cornell University, Dr. Coun was awarded his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School followed by residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College-St Vincent’s Medical Center. Dr. Coun joined Mount Sinai in 2016 as the Chief of Internal Medicine for Mount Sinai Doctors Brooklyn Heights prior to transitioning to his current role as Medical Director of Mount Sinai Doctors-Business Health and the 34th Street practice.

While maintaining his own primary care practice, Dr. Coun oversees the practices of over 30 providers across 18 specialties at the 34th Street practice and the business health division. As Medical Director of Mount Sinai Doctors-Business Health, Dr. Coun applies the core principles of his primary care practice when developing health care delivery models to meet the needs of the various business and universities served by this division. The goal is to engage every client as an individual, assess their unique needs and goals, and then create and implement services to achieve meaningful benefit, all while adhering to the best medical evidence. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Coun worked for more than 15 years for NYC Health Hospitals delivering primary care to an underserved population. 

During this time, Dr. Coun led a variety of performance improvement projects focused on access to care and clinic efficiency as well as established programs for high-risk patients with diabetes, cardiovascular disease and depression. Dr. Coun also served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine where he was a regular lecturer, seminal leader and clinical educator of both medical students and resident physicians.

Mary Elizabeth (Emmy) Kearney, PA-C
Director of Operations, Senior Clinical Manager
Mary Elizabeth (Emmy) Kearney is a certified physician assistant who has been practicing medicine for more than seven years. Emmy earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Pace University in Manhattan. She has experience in internal medicine, primary care, and occupational health. Emmy is the Director of Operations at Mount Sinai Doctors-Business Health and has been leading the team for more than three years. At Mount Sinai Doctors-Business Health, she works closely with clients to ensure seamless on boarding of their employees as well as appropriate follow up to guarantee compliance. Emmy organizes and leads on-site campaigns including high-volume vaccinations and health assessments, making the process easy and efficient for both clients and employees. In addition to running the Mount Sinai Doctors-Business Health operations, she oversees student health services provided at Baruch and Marymount Manhattan Colleges. Emmy is currently championing the expansion of business health services across New York alongside the Mount Sinai Doctors-Business Health team. Emmy believes in the Mount Sinai Doctors-Business Health’s mission to always provide exceptional medical services and care.
