Chinese language versions of the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center’s Uniform Data Set version 4: a linguistic and cultural adaptation study
Age: 50 - 99 years
Gender: All
Recruitment Status: Recruiting
Start Date: June 01, 2026
The purpose of this research study is to develop linguistically and culturally appropriate tools to evaluate memory and other thinking skills in Chinese American older adults. Our study team will translate and/or adapt assessments in Mandarin and Cantonese for the evaluation. You may also choose to participate in a brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sub-study, which will identify structures that may be related to any changes in your memory and thinking abilities. These research tools would inform ways to diagnose memory and thinking issues, such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other types of dementia in Chinese American older adults.
Inclusion criteria include participants aged 50 and older, ambulatory, community-residing, able to undergo testing in Mandarin or Cantonese, agreeable to the assessment procedures detailed in the consent form, and able to identify a study partner who will complete informant interview and questionnaires.
Participants will be excluded if they have active substance abuse, a major psychotic disorder, sensory impairment, and/or an active mood disorder that would likely impede assessment.
