The Lupus Program at Mount Sinai Morningside

The Lupus Program at Mount Sinai Morningside provides comprehensive care for patients with systemic lupus. Occurring on the last Monday afternoon of each month, it is an opportunity for patients to be seen by multiple physicians in one day. This will help reduce the time burden of attending appointments and will help provide better care by allowing multiple physicians to work together. Many of our physicians also conduct research to help better understand and treat lupus. 

We strive to provide exceptional care for all patients with lupus. 

Our services include: 

• Comprehensive evaluation for patients suspected to have systemic lupus or for those seeking a second opinion regarding their lupus diagnosis. 
• Long term follow-up care for patients with lupus. 
• Referral to clinical trials (where appropriate). 
• Comprehensive care for patients with lupus who have concurrent psychiatric conditions such as depression or anxiety. 
• Coordination of appointments with Nephrology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology, OBGYN, Cardiology, Pulmonary and Neurology teams.

Meet the Team

Rheumatology

Chrisanna Dobrowolski, MD, MS, completed her medical degree at Dalhousie University in Canada, followed by an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Ottawa, where she also received a Health Advocacy Award and served as Chief Medicine Resident. She came to the United States in 2018 as a fellow in the Division of Rheumatology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she later completed a Masters of Science in Clinical Research Methods and worked as an Instructor of Medicine. Dr. Dobrowolski subsequently accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She covers both Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai Hospital locations. Dr. Dobrowolski is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and volunteers with the ACR Classification Criteria Subcommittee. She has a special interest in systemic lupus, and in particular, the neurologic and psychiatric manifestations of systemic lupus and the impact on patients' quality of life. 

Psychiatry

Nicholas Kopple-Perry, DO is Associate Director of Psychiatry Education and Training at Mount Sinai St Luke's and the Director of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West. He is an attending at the Institute for Advanced Medicine where he specializes in providing psychiatric care to individuals with chronic medical conditions and HIV/AIDS and the formerly incarcerated.

He completed his general psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West where he served as Chief Resident and completed a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Kopple-Perry is board certified in Psychosomatic Medicine and Adult Psychiatry.
