Cleaning, Sanitation, and Disinfection Research Initiative

The Mount Sinai Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health is dedicated to protecting the safety, health, and well-being of workers. Among our key initiatives is the Cleaning, Sanitation, and Disinfection Research Initiative, which focuses on the health impacts of cleaning and disinfectant products used both in the workplace and at home.
What We Offer
Our initiative centers on four core activities:
- Clinical Care: Providing specialized medical services for individuals affected by exposure to cleaning chemicals and disinfectants
- Research: Investigating the health risks of cleaning products, evaluating their effects on people, and developing safer alternatives and improved safety protocols
- Interventions and Safety Solutions: Creating strategies to prevent chemical-related health problems by reducing or eliminating exposure to hazardous substances
- Education and Outreach: Offering resources, training, and support to workers, unions, community organizations, and consumers to raise awareness of chemical risks and promote safe practices
