Dermatology Telemedicine Appointments

The Mount Sinai West Department of Dermatology is now offering telemedicine video appointments to maximize patient safety and efficiency during the COVID-19 crisis. This convenient service allows us to meet your dermatological needs while reducing your potential risk of COVID-19 exposure. Telemedicine appointments can be used for both new and existing patients, for most dermatology visit types.

We appreciate your understanding that some conditions may require an examination in the office. However, we are encouraging telemedicine visits to begin a consultation about patients’ symptoms and determine next steps, which can include prescribing medications if needed. Mount Sinai patients have given positive feedback about their telemedicine experience, and enjoy the various benefits of real-time video telemedicine visits.

What kind of phone, tablet or computer setup is required?
Any Android, iOS phone, tablet, or computer with a webcam released in the last few years will work for a telemedicine appointment.

How do I book a telemedicine appointment?
You will need to have the MyChart app to participate in a telemedicine appointment. Please download and install the MyChart app from the Google Play store or iTunes store. You can then contact your provider’s office via Mount Sinai MyChart, or by telephone, to schedule your appointment. Is my health care information secure while participating in this online visit?
Yes. Mount Sinai employs encrypted, HIPAA-compliant technology to connect you to our doctors. No one is present in the room with the doctor or listening on the line; you can confidently discuss your health in an environment of secure privacy.

Is there a copay for a telemedicine visit?
Yes, there is a copay for appointments not related to COVID-19.
