Mount Sinai’s specialists are highly skilled in providing neuropsychology services for our pediatric patients. Our neuropsychologists evaluate children who are having problems with some aspect of their thinking, such as attention, memory, or language. Through a comprehensive assessment, we identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses, as well as psychosocial issues that might be causing symptoms. Often, this evaluation can lead to a diagnosis such as a language disorder, learning disability, attention deficit disorder, or pervasive developmental disorder.
One of the goals of the neuropsychological evaluation is to develop recommendations that can help strengthen your child’s weaknesses and improve day-to-day life for your entire family. These recommendations may involve academic programs, home interventions, and speech and occupational therapy, and focus on strategies that can enhance your child’s learning and behavior to help him or her reach his or her fullest potential.
