Student Research 

Research Opportunities

Lab-based and clinical research opportunities are offered throughout the year. Placements are determined by level of education and science courses completed within the past five years. These are excellent opportunities for premed students who wish to explore the research component of medicine.  There are a limited number of placements for high school students.

Laboratory Research

Students have the opportunity to assist the professional staff with basic laboratory techniques, maintenance of equipment and supplies, data entry and compilation, and searching medical databases for scientific references.

  • Training and supervision provided
  • Minimum age: 15
  • Minimum hours: 15 hours per week for four months during the academic year; 5 days per week for 8 weeks during the summer
  • Times to volunteer: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm

Clinical Research

Students assist with clinical research projects in a variety of ways, including confirming and scheduling appointments; data collection, entry, and analysis; and compiling and submitting essential documents in accordance with institutional guidelines.

  • Minimum age: 18
  • Minimum hours: 10 hours per week for four months during the academic year; 20 hours per week for 8 weeks during the summer
  • Times to volunteer: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm
