Dr. Marco Harmaty is a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Harmaty has a particular expertise in microvascular breast reconstruction (DIEP flaps, Double DIEP flaps, and perforator flaps) as well as implant reconstruction, and cosmetic breast surgery. He has been chosen multiple times as a Castle Connolly "Top Doctor", and has been honored as a New York Magazine “Best Doctor” in 2016, 2018, and 2020. With an active cosmetic and reconstructive surgery practice, Dr. Harmaty performs several hundred surgeries per year and finds tremendous fulfillment in enriching his patient's lives. He has a unique ability to enhance ones natural beauty as well as correct problems of the face, breast and body. He takes the time to listen carefully to each patient's goals and works closely with them to develop a collaborative vision of the results he can achieve. Whether a procedure is big or small, Dr. Harmaty prides himself on helping every individual through their reconstructive journey. Dr. Harmaty regularly preforms breast augmentation, breast reduction, liposuction, tummy tucks, fat grafting, abdominal wall reconstruction, gynecologic reconstruction, and orthopedic reconstructive surgery . He also performs facial and non invasive techniques. Dr. Harmaty received his degree in medicine from UNC at Chapel Hill where he was class president and inducted into the prestigious order of Grail-Valkyries for recognition of his accomplishments in medical school. While at Chapel Hill, he was recognized with numerous honors including; Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha , Gamma Sigma Alpha, and the Golden Key Society. After completing his residency in plastic surgery at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Harmaty was invited to join the faculty in 2007 where he continues to serve on faculty as assistant professor and has established his private practice in reconstructive and plastic surgery. Dr. Harmaty is well known for his warm bedside manner and conservative approach to achieving beautiful, natural results.
