Katherine Leaver, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine. She is dedicated to providing excellent clinical care for patients with movement disorders. She is currently involved in many research projects, including investigating Deep Brain Stimulation outcomes in patients with Parkinson's Disease, and serves as a co-investigator for clinical trials run at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. She is also involved with NIH-funded research focused on identifying diagnostic and progression markers and disease pathways for Parkinson’s disease, especially the LRRK2 and GBA genetic subtypes.
Dr. Leaver attended Brown University as an undergraduate, returned to her home state for medical training at the University of Utah, then completed her neurology residency at Stanford University. She received her fellowship training at Mount Sinai Beth Israel under the mentorship of Dr. Susan Bressman and Dr. Rachel Saunders-Pullman. She was selected as the Michael J. Fox Foundation's Edmond J. Safra Fellow with an emphasis on training clinician-researchers.
