Dr. Cynthia Katz is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of General Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital. She is a board-certified pediatrician, the Associate Program Director, and Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety for the Pediatrics Residency program of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Katz practices general pediatrics in both out-patient and in-patient settings. Her clinical interests include early childhood literacy, social determinants of health, breastfeeding promotion and education, and nutrition and obesity. Her academic interests include Quality Improvement methodology, curriculum development, physician wellness, communication skills, medical student education, and International Medical Graduate acculturation. She has presented at numerous national meetings on these topics. Dr. Katz was the founder and medical director of the Reach out and Read Program at The Brooklyn Hospital Center for 10 years, where she was the Associate Residency Program Director in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Katz graduated with distinction from Cornell University and received her MD from SUNY College of Medicine at Downstate. She completed her internship and residency training in Pediatrics at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of Columbia Presbyterian.
