ResearchOur laboratory is dedicated to understanding the mucosal immunology of food allergic disorders. Themes within this work include (1) understanding mechanisms responsible for development of sensitization and tolerance to food proteins, (2) determining how allergen-specific T cells home to the gut and induce disease, and (3) finding methods to modify the allergen-specific T cell response for therapeutic purposes. Much of our lab’s work to date has focused on the communication between gastrointestinal epithelial cells, dendritic cells, and antigen-specific T cells in the context of food allergy.
