Liposuction

Fat removal - suctioning; Body contouring

Liposuction is the removal of excess body fat by suction using special surgical equipment. A plastic surgeon typically does the surgery.

Liposuction

A vibrating suction cannula, or flexible tube, is used in a liposuction procedure. In this example, the cannula is inserted through a small hole into the abdominal fat tissue to remove excess fat deposits.

Fat layer in skin

The fat layer of skin is located in the subcutaneous layer of tissue called the hypodermis. The thickness of the fat layer, which varies greatly from one person to another, depends on the size and number of fat cells.

Liposuction - series - Indications

Fat can settle in certain parts of the body. Women gain fat mostly in the stomach, buttocks, hips, and thighs. Men, on the other hand, can gain fat in the belly and waist. Liposuction may help people who want to have less fat in these parts of their body. But it is not for people who are very overweight.
