Vocational Counseling

Mount Sinai’s Vocational Rehabilitation Service helps individuals with physical or neurological disabilities return to work or school. Services are provided primarily on an outpatient basis, both for people referred from agencies and self-referrals. We offer a variety of customized services to meet the specific needs of each individual:

  • Educational testing
  • Assessment of skills and aptitudes, situational assessment and work trials
  • Computer and internet-based assessment, training and education
  • Vocational and educational counseling
  • Career guidance
  • Exposure to assistive technology
  • Resume and interview preparation

To facilitate community reintegration as well as entry into or return to school and employment, the Vocational Rehabilitation Service cultivates and maintains links to community resources, such as:

  • Local colleges and universities
  • Job training programs
  • Supported employment
  • New York State’s vocational rehabilitation agency
  • Independent living centers
