Rehabilitation Services at Mount Sinai have earned recognition from several sources, since the program was greatly expanded in 1986 to address the comprehensive needs of people with a wide range of rehabilitative needs:
- The Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has repeatedly reviewed our programs and services and has consistently accredited them. CARF accreditation signals our commitment to place patients at the center of care, continually improve our services, encourage feedback from our patients and serve all those seeking rehabilitative care.
- We are the only program in NYC accredited for spinal cord injury and post-amputation inpatient rehabilitation care and the only program to receive CARF approval across a wide range of specialty accreditations for adults and adolescents.
- The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, the primary federal agency funding rehabilitation research, has recognized and funded Mount Sinai’s Model System of care for individuals with traumatic brain injury since 2002. The Mount Sinai TBI Model System is one of only 16 in the U.S.
- The U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks the Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Center among the best programs in the nation—with our current ranking being 12th.
