Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology has achieved extraordinary success in diagnosing and treating the most difficult and complex cardiac conditions in fetuses, children, and young adults. Along with Kravis Children's Hospital, we share our accomplishments with Mount Sinai Heart Hospital — led by Valentin Fuster, MD—globally recognized and pioneering a unique approach to the science and clinical care of patients with cardiovascular diseases. The Heart Hospital developed the Fetal Heart Program to care for newborns with congenital heart disorders and provide support and education to their parents.
As one of only two active pediatric heart transplant centers in New York State, our Congenital and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery program also provides support for very sick hearts in infants and older children, using Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenators (ECMO) or Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD).
We offer a complete range of diagnostic services, including:
- Pediatric and fetal echocardiography
- Exercise testing
- Holter monitoring
- Cardiac MRI
- Cardiovascular genetics

Our interdisciplinary team works closely with your referring physician to evaluate your child's condition and circumstances. From there, we develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Our success in treating patients with a broad range of heart conditions centers on the collaboration of an exceptional team comprising:

- Pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists
- Pediatric physician's assistants
- Advanced Practice Nurses

- Child life specialists
With the Division of Pediatric Cardiology working in concert with the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Mount Sinai Heart Hospital, our pediatric experts provide the full spectrum of surgical and interventional catheterization treatments for congenital and acquired pediatric heart diseases.
