Q: How do you make a medical appointment or arrange for a second opinion?
A: If you do not already have an appointment with a doctor, we will recommend a doctor to you and assist in scheduling an appointment that meets your travel needs.
Q: Will I have an interpreter available to me at all times during my visit?
A: Yes. We can ensure that there is an interpreter available to assist you throughout your medical treatment.
Q: Where will my family stay during my visit to Mount Sinai Hospital?
A: We can assist you in making reservations at local hotels. Depending on the type of room you are in, a family member can receive permission to stay overnight in the same room.
Q: If I need assistance navigating the Mount Sinai Hospital facilities, will someone be available to escort me?
A: Yes. A patient service specialist will be available to escort you to and from your appointments.
Q: Can get a complete physical performed while I am in New York City?
A: Our hospital does have a program entitled the Executive Health Program. You can get a complete physical performed by top Mount Sinai Hospital physicians in one day. Please contact Sarah Pesce at Sarah.Pesce@mountsinai.org for more information.
Q: When does the financial clearance need to be obtained?
A: All international self pay patients must submit full deposit payment (wire transfer, credit card, cash, or certified bank check) prior to arrival for medical care. Financial clearance will be coordinated through the International Service Department.
Q: What happens if I stay in the hospital longer than anticipated?
A: There are rare circumstances in which there are additional costs associated with your treatment. Should this occur, a member of our medical concierge team will contact you.
Q: Do you accept letters of guarantee for payment?
A: We look at all letters on a case by case basis, including those from embassies and foreign consulates.
Q: What type of documentation do you provide before and following treatment and services at your institution?
A: We can provide you a medical visa and any other medical tourism documentation that may be required prior to you travelling to New York City. Once all medical services have been completed, we can provide to you an itemization of all medical services provided to you at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
Q: Do you accept international insurances at your hospital?
A: We look at all international insurances on a case by case basis. Please mention your international insurance carrier when inquiring with our department.
