Lung-Pulmonology

With internationally known experts in pulmonology, we at Mount Sinai West can diagnose and treat a wide range of respiratory ailments. We collaborate regularly with doctors in other departments to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care.

We have three special programs that helps us meet your needs:

The Center for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency treats people with this deficiency and associated emphysema. We have been designated a Center of Excellence by the Alpha-1 Foundation. An alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency can cause serious lung and/or liver disease.

The Smoking Cessation program has an amazing track record in helping our patients quit smoking permanently. We create personalized plans for each of our patients, using behavior modification, along with medication, to get you to kick the habit.

The Intensive Care Unit Simulation Lab supports several training labs, with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment linked to computerized manikins. We have the only accredited Simulation Center in New York City that  teaches doctors  how to better handle respiratory and other medical emergencies. The training our doctors receive improves the quality and safety of care here and throughout the Mount Sinai Health System.
