Conditions We Treat

The doctors at Spine Center at The Mount Sinai Hospital offer state-of-the-art care for disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbosacral spine. We use a team approach to evaluate and treat acute and chronic pain from spine conditions and injuries. Some injuries cause a loss in function.

Diagnostic Testing for Spine Disorders

We do careful evaluations and use the latest treatments. Often, we give epidural injections or other spine interventions at the initial visit. These can help with diagnosis and/or pain relief.

The Spine Center has on-site diagnostic radiology and a fluoroscopy suite. Fluoroscopy provides real-time X-rays. We often use it to guide us as we administer targeted pain relief.

We use a variety of diagnostic tests for spine problems, including:

  • Bone scans
  • Computerized tomography scans
  • Discograms
  • Electromyography nerve tests
  • Facet blocks
  • Laboratory tests
  • Magnetic resonance imaging scans
  • Myelograms
  • Spinal taps
  • X-rays
