The Center for Spirituality and Health is committed to improving the health of the communities served by the Mount Sinai Health System through collaboration with faith based and community organizations. We recognize the importance of faith and religion in medical decision making and that faith based leaders can have a significant role in promoting the health of their congregations.
Our programs include:
- Monthly breakfasts provide health education and discussions of the intersection between health and spirituality.
- Our Multi-faith Initiative on Community and Health (M.I.C.A.H.) program is a response to the self-identified health needs of faith based organizations served by the Mount Sinai Health System. In collaboration with and support from our partners in the Mount Sinai Health System, we facilitate health education programs, wellness events, health screenings, and information on pathways to access health care throughout the Mount Sinai Health System. Mindful of the social determinants of health, our goal is to decrease health care disparities. We strive to promote health while respecting the myriad faith traditions in a cultural competent manner.
