About Colon and Rectal Surgery at Mount Sinai
The surgeons in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Mount Sinai Health System have completed extensive training in general surgery, as well as advanced training in the surgical treatment of anus, colon, and rectal disease. Our surgeons concentrate on the latest treatments for Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, colon and rectal cancer, diverticular diseases, and all the aspects of anorectal diseases, including rectal prolapse. In doing so, they perform hundreds of operations each year, largely using minimally invasive techniques that result in faster recovery time, less pain, and minimal scarring for the patient.
The colon and rectal surgeons at Mount Sinai have remained world leaders in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, and are nationally and internationally renowned for their care of patients with a wide variety of gastrointestinal disorders. Our colon and rectal surgeons work closely with their colleagues in gastroenterology and other specialties to ensure that each patient receives a comprehensive and focused care plan.
The Mount Sinai Colon and Rectal Surgery program is also educating the next generation of surgeons through its progressive residency education program in colon and rectal diseases. The Division also continues to be active in the latest research to advance the care and treatment of these diseases.
