Social Services and Pastoral Care
During your stay at the Jo Carole and Ronald S. Lauder Center for Maternity Care at The Mount Sinai Hospital, a clinical social worker is available to meet with you should you require an antepartum hospitalization to help you manage the stress of a hospital stay during your pregnancy. Services include supportive counseling, referrals for massage therapy, and behavioral interventions such as relaxation techniques and guided imagery. Laptop computer access and a mobile library are also available through the social worker. Please let your nurse or physician know if you would like to access these services.
The arrival of a new baby is a blessed event, and often a stressful time, in the life of a family. The Pastoral Care Department of The Mount Sinai Hospital provides blessings for babies and families, support for new moms and help for couples and families. Should you need it, they also provide grief counseling and support. Clergy may visit your room during your stay at the hospital; otherwise, you may ask your nurse or physician to contact them for your needs.
