Steven and Alexandra Cohen Center for Labor and Birth
Our integrated approach to labor and delivery involves multiple fields — from obstetrics, nursing, and anesthesiology to neonatal intensive care, pediatric surgery, and genetics - all housed within one unified setting.
The new Steven and Alexandra Cohen Center for Labor and Birth, located within the Jo Carole and Ronald S. Lauder Center for Maternity Care, will allow Mount Sinai to increase our projected number of births from 6,000 prior to the renovation to an anticipated 7,000 births in the coming year and help women, newborns and families to experience the most cutting edge technology in maternal care in a modern and comfortable environment.
Located on the second floor of the Klingenstein Clinical Health Center on Fifth Avenue in New York City, the Center overlooks Central Park. The 15,000 –square-foot space features a reception area, staff lounge, administrative offices, a private triage room, four private antepartum fetal surveillance rooms, three short-term triage bays, and 18 birthing rooms. Each room includes new lighting, plumbing fixtures with touch-less sensors, an on-call nurse system, electronic fetal-monitoring machines, comfortable recliners for spouses and flat screen TVs. The Cohen Center for Labor and Birth also includes a Level IV NICU with specially trained nurses to care for our tiniest patients.
