Research Studies and Clinical Trials
The Division of Neuromuscular Disease conducts research studies and clinical trials designed to improve the diagnosis and treatment of a range of disorders.
Lan Zhou, MD, PhD, the Director of the Neuromuscular Pathology Laboratory, leads a basic research program exploring mechanisms involved in inflammation and regeneration when muscle gets injured. Her research team is dissecting many roles of inflammatory cells in muscle regeneration and developing novel approaches to promote muscle injury repair. This may benefit not only acute muscle injury repair but also chronic muscle injury associated with muscular dystrophies and inflammatory myopathies.
Clinical trials are research studies that involve humans and may enable us to offer emerging therapies that are often unavailable anywhere else. Our specialists will help identify which clinical trials may be appropriate for you.
