Mark S. Courey, MD
Chief of Laryngology, Director of the Grabscheid Voice and Swallowing Center of Mount Sinai

Mark S. Courey, MD, is the Division Chief of Laryngology, Director of the Grabscheid Voice and Swallowing Center of Mount Sinai, and Vice Chair of Quality for the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the Mount Sinai Health System. Dr. Courey is well-regarded nationally and internationally for his skills in the clinical management of patients with airway, voice, and swallowing disorders. Additionally, he uses a multidisciplinary (team) approach to patient care, which includes speech-language pathologists, vocal trainers, laryngologists, neurologists, radiation oncologists and voice scientists. Dr. Courey sees patients at both The Mount Sinai Hospital and at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. 

Daniel McCabe, DMA, CCC-SLP
Chief Vocologist

Daniel McCabe has an extensive career in professional voice, teaching, and voice therapy. He has a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music, and has 15 CDs to his name, including one that won the Grand Prix du Disc, and one that was put up for a Grammy. He has been on the faculty at Oberlin Conservatory and the Music department at SUNY Buffalo, and studied with Jan DeGaetani and Richard Miller. After completing a three-year program of study in vocology at the University of Iowa Mr. McCabe specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of functional voice disorders. He brings a unique knowledge of the demands that professional voice users place on their voices. His published research includes studies on swallowing, neural plasticity, as well as voice disorders. His current research focuses on laryngeal hypersensitivity, and vocal fold elasticity.

Leanne Goldberg, MS, CCC-SLP
Speech Language Pathologist, Vocologist Specializing in Swallowing, Voice and Chronic Cough

Leanne specializes in both the evaluation and treatment of swallowing and voice disorders. Ms. Goldberg is proficient in treating professional voice users and those who suffer with chronic cough. She is trained in fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES), modified barium swallow (MBS) evaluations and laryngeal massage. She is certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association, and has her clinical certificate of competency.

Leanne Goldberg received a BS from NYU and her MS degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Leanne completed both an internship and her fellowship at Mount Sinai, where she has been working since 2005. Additionally, she assisted in the development of the Department of Rehabilitation’s Phase II Program for adults with brain injuries, and has worked extensively with patients post stroke and with traumatic brain injury. Leanne is also proficient in Spanish.
