About Us

Mount Sinai Interventional Radiology offers the latest techniques and technology in the field. Our state-of-the-art services include diagnostic angiography, for in-depth information about blood vessels; percutaneous nephrostomy, to remove kidney stones; and transarterial therapy for liver cancer.  We are one of the few health systems in the country with a Fibroid Care Center to treat uterine fibroids. We were also one of the first to use coated stents to treat peripheral arterial disease.

The department was founded by Harold Mitty, MD, FSIR. Today, our faculty perform more than 6,000 procedures each year. Our patients come from the New York City area and around the country, as well as Canada, South America, and Europe.
