Mount Sinai Queens has unveiled a state-of-the-art Cerebrovascular Stroke Center. “In a stroke, time is brain,” said Danny Hom, RT, administrative director at Mount Sinai Queens. “With every second that passes, you lose a certain amount of neurons.” The center’s goal is to reduce the total procedure time for a CT scan to 15 minutes. “Why do we have this center in Queens?” asked J Mocco, MD, MS, vice chair of the department of neurosurgery and director of the cerebrovascular center at the Mount Sinai Health System. “The answer is community. New York State is leading the national community in how the Department of Health addresses stroke care,”
