 – January 16, 2015 /Press Release/  ––

The Mount Sinai Health System will mark American Heart Month in February by hosting on its hospital campuses free heart health fairs, health screenings, expert lectures, and heart healthy cooking demonstrations.

"Our goal this Heart Month is to raise awareness of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease, the number one killer of Americans and New Yorkers," says Beth Oliver, RN, DNP, Vice President of Cardiac Services for the Mount Sinai Health System. "Mount Sinai's Heart Month and daily goal is to seize every opportunity to educate our communities and employees about how to keep their hearts healthy. Our events and activities are designed to help lower their disease risk and improve heart health through increased personal health knowledge, healthier diets, and at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day."

Mount Sinai Health System's Heart Month activities include:

February 6 "Go Red" Community Heart Health Fairs

Each Mount Sinai Community Heart Health Fair will be hosted on February 6 from 10:00am-2:00pm offering free heart health screenings for blood pressure, total cholesterol including good and bad cholesterol levels, triglyceride level, and body mass index (BMI).
