Mount Sinai's Gastroenterology services are consistently ranked in the top ten in the nation in the US and News and World Report rankings of Best Hospitals. Mount Sinai physicians care for more patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) than any other medical center in the country. Our physicians are equally renowned for treating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers and other disorders of the upper and lower GI tract.
Colon Cancer Screening/Colonoscopy
The term "colon cancer" includes cancers of both the colon and the rectum. The American Cancer Society notes that colon cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States.
The Mount Sinai Women's Health Program takes cancer prevention very seriously and urges you to take advantage of various colon cancer-screening options we've made available. Screening is recommended for every woman age 50 and older—earlier if she has a significant family history of colon cancer.
All endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures take place in our new, state-of-the-art Endoscopy Suite, where every woman is guaranteed privacy, courtesy, safety and respect.
