Parathyroid Conditions We Treat
Located behind the thyroid gland, the parathyorid glands are small glands that regulate calcium and phosphorous levels in the body. These glands produce a hormone call parathyroid hormone (PTH), which acts on bone, the kidneys, and the gastrointestinal tract to regulate calcium heomstasis in the body. Disorders involving the parathyroid system may include benign sporadic or inherited conditions of hyperactivity, such as:
- Hyperparathyroidism (primary, secondary, persistent, and familial)
- Persistent and Recurrent Hyperparathyroidism
Minimally Invasive Surgery for Parathyroid Disease
At the Endocrine Surgery Parathyroid Center, we take great strides to personalize the recommendation for surgery. If parathyroid surgery has been recommended by your physician, we will confirm the indications for surgery and then discuss the different operative approaches, which include:
- Minimally Invasive Parathyroidectomy
- Bilateral Neck Exploration for Hyperparathyroidism
- Endoscopic Parathyroidectomy
