The mission of the Division of Metabolic, Endocrine and Minimally Invasive Surgery (MEMIS) at Mount Sinai is threefold: to advance clinical excellence, education, and translational research. The MEMIS Division, led by William B. Inabnet, III, MD, serves as the backbone for several disease-specific multidisciplinary programs including:
- The Mount Sinai Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery Program, which focuses on bariatric surgery and surgery for type 2 diabetes (“metabolic surgery”)
- The Endocrine Surgery Neoplasia Program, which brings multiple specialists together to treat thyroid, parathyroid, neuroendocrine pancreas and adrenal disorders
- The Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery Program, which focuses on minimally invasive surgery of the gastrointestinal tract, solid organ removal and surgical innovation
Our team of six fellowship-trained surgeons, numerous allied specialists, and ancillary staff is committed to our mission of clinical excellence, education, the advancement of science and comprehensive patient care.
