B1 Hemodialysis Unit
Mount Sinai's B1 dialysis center is a 12-station, acute and chronic hemodialysis unit treating adult and pediatric inpatients, as well as some outpatients. Equipped with the newest technology, the unit also has 12 portable machines that provide bedside dialysis for patients unable to be transported. Patients requiring additional care have access to the Mount Sinai Medical Center's full range of services, which include vascular surgery, urology, interventional radiology, and transplant surgery.
Our highly-skilled dialysis team emphasizes compassion, comfort, and communication and strives to partner with each patient to ensure the best possible care. In addition to the languages spoken by our staff (which include Spanish, Russian, and French), a translation service is also available. We seek to create the most comfortable environment possible through amenities such as televisions at every station and free Wi-Fi.
Our Pediatric Dialysis Services
Pediatric dialysis patients (under 18 years of age) receive treatment in a dedicated area separate from the adult patients. Their care team includes a pediatric dialysis director, dietitian, and social worker, as well as a child life specialist, who routinely meets with pediatric patients to coordinate games and direct creative projects while they receive treatment.
Mount Sinai's Convenient Dialysis Services
The B1 unit is open Monday through Saturday, and patients are assigned to either a Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday schedule in one of three time slots:
- 6 am–10 am
- 10 am–2 pm
- 2 pm–6 pm
The B1 Unit also welcomes international and traveling patients visiting New York City. Our staff makes all arrangements regarding flexible scheduling, medical records, and payment in advance to ensure the most convenient and seamless appointment possible.
By combining the newest technology, convenient scheduling, and a compassionate staff, the B1 Unit strives to provide its patients with the highest quality of dialysis care.
