Our echocardiography laboratory performs extensively detailed quantitative studies on state of the art equipment. We specialize in quantification of valvular heart disease, diastolic dysfunction, and direct side-by-side digital image comparison of sequential studies. We employ intravenous precision microspheres for imaging the most technically difficult patients. We have recently introduced 3 and 4-dimensional imaging, which provides better visualization and quantification of cardiac chambers and valvular lesions.
We offer fully digital treadmill and dobutamine stress echocardiography available, in most cases, within 24 hours of request. All stress tests are directly supervised by a physician and have over 90% specificity and sensitivity compared to angiography. Following the ACC/AHA Guidelines on Valvular Heart Disease, we perform stress echo to objectively assess exercise capacity and ventricular and pulmonary pressure responses to graded exercise in patients with valvular disease.
Transesophageal echocardiography is performed in comfortable surroundings with 2 dedicated nurses providing pretest and post test supervision and monitoring. A very thin (nasogastric tube sized) adult transesophageal echo probe is available for use in patients who may not tolerate the usual sized adult probe.
Using a combination of advanced imaging technologies including Doppler Tissue Imaging as well as 3-D and 4-D imaging we can identify candidates with heart failure most likely to benefit from cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). Furthermore, once the patent has undergone CRT implantation, we apply similar technology to idealize the settings and timings to maximize the benefits of their new devices.
