Researchers exposed skin to low levels of UVA radiation, to simulate the exposure that's commonly experience in daily life.
"It was enough to break down collagen in the skin, which leads to more wrinkles over the course of a lifetime," said Joshua Zeichner, MD, Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Director of Cosmetic and Clinical Research at The Mount Sinai Hospital. "I have patients who say they're never in the sun, because they don't think about the incremental exposure they get walking from their car to their office, or sitting near a window, which doesn't block UVA rays."
