About the Children’s Heart Fund
The Children's Heart Fund is a parent-organized group with involvement from friends and staff of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. With the help of the Children's Heart Fund, the Division of Pediatric Cardiology has been able to fund educational resources for the families of children with congenital heart defects, purchase state-of-the-art echocardiography machines, fund mission-critical research projects, sponsor pediatric cardiology fellowship training and provide special bags to patients who are transitioning from pediatrics to adult services. In addition, support from the fund helped provide a computer for the family room of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
History of the Children’s Heart Fund
The Children's Heart Fund at The Mount Sinai Hospital was formed in 1998 by two grateful parents who wanted to give something back to the Division of Pediatric Cardiology for helping treat their son's complex cardiac defect. After this life-altering experience at Mount Sinai, these two parents decided to reach out to other parents in similar situations and find a collective way to express the depth of their gratitude for the care and hope the doctors, nurses, social workers and countless other staff offered to them in their greatest time of need.
