"Eighth Annual Benefit for The Dubin Breast Center" – Amanda L. Gordon
The Dubin Breast Center of the Tisch Cancer Institute at the Mount Sinai Health System held its seventh annual benefit on Monday, December 11 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. Eva Dubin, MD, founder of the Dubin Breast Center established the center with the goal to improve the experience of being treated for breast cancer. This includes a wide range of services in one location at the Mount Sinai Health System, a calming environment, access to clinical trials and programs like yoga and nutrition counseling. A mother who fought her battle with cancer pre-Dubin and then watched her two daughters treated for the disease at the center summed up the experience: “These are luckier times, because of Dubin,” Priscilla Alexander said. “There is always someone wrapping their arms around you.” Alexander’s daughter, Melissa Spohler said she’s excited about the genetic testing Dubin is offering that will help screen for and develop personalized treatments.
