On the district’s east side, Mount Sinai Downtown is set to build a new facility on Second Ave. between 13th and 14th Sts. The 70-bed mini-hospital will stand adjacent to the existing New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, which will continue to see patients during construction and get upgrades of its own. “Over the next four years, we will be transforming Mount Sinai Beth Israel in major ways by expanding access, improving quality and preserving jobs for the Downtown community,” said Jeremy Boal, MD, president of Mount Sinai Downtown and chief medical officer at the Mount Sinai Health System.
