Melissa Hernandez is the proud mother of 4-month-old twin boys, and she has a lot to be thankful for after being diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma on her forehead when seven months pregnant. She went to Orit Markowitz, MD, an assistant professor of dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, who used cosmetic lasers that do not touch the skin. Dr. Markowitz explained, "We were able to monitor with non-invasive imaging to watch the tumor disappear and hopefully, eradicate completely."
