Nanostim Inc.'s miniaturized pacemaker, a device the size of a AAA battery placed entirely in the heart, appeared promising in its first human trials. The lack of wires known as leads removes a source of complications since they can become infected, dislodged or damaged, said Dr. Vivek Reddy, director of electrophysiology at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, who presented the findings at the Heart Rhythm Society meeting in Denver. Learn more
